One year with Herenco – Golvhuset in Värnamo

On long-term thinking, corporate culture, and creating the right conditions for the next step.

Golvhuset i Värnamo has been part of the city for over 38 years. What began in 1988, when Börje Georgsson and Ingmar Söderberg took over Beijer’s flooring operations together with several of the craftsmen, has grown into an established company in flooring, bathrooms and renovation, with a strong local presence and a family-oriented way of working.

A company built on craftsmanship and involvement

When Jesper Lindholm became a co-owner in 2015, Golvhuset had six craftsmen and a turnover of around SEK 18 million. At that time, he had worked both as a flooring installer and later as a salesperson in the industry, and he quickly saw the company’s potential.

“Golvhuset already had a very strong reputation and a strong culture back then. There was a lot to build on,” Jesper says.

Since then, the company has grown to 17 employees and expanded its operations from traditional flooring installation to offering comprehensive solutions in bathrooms and renovation.

“Previously, much was about function. Today, customers want a complete package—design and guidance in a different way. We saw early on that this was an opportunity to develop the business.”

At the same time, Golvhuset has actively worked to train younger employees and build for the long term in an industry where skilled craftsmen are in short supply.

A culture customers can feel

According to Jesper, much of Golvhuset’s strength lies in its people and the culture that has been built over time.

A shared breakfast every morning, close relationships with customers, and strong cohesion among employees remain a natural part of everyday life.

“We believe that our culture is noticeable in customer interactions. How we treat each other internally is also reflected in how customers experience us.”

Often, it comes down to small details—taking the time, building relationships, and creating trust over the long term. The result has been many returning customers and a strong local position in the Värnamo region.

“It’s important to us that people enjoy their work. We believe engaged employees also create better customer experiences.”

When the next step became necessary

For several years, Golvhuset had experienced strong growth, and the business had become more complex. Requirements for administration, documentation, and follow-up increased, while the organization remained relatively small.

“We were facing a crossroads where we either needed to build a larger organization ourselves or find a long-term partner who could help us take the next step,” Jesper explains.

Golvhuset was already far along in discussions with another buyer when Jesper chose to contact Herenco’s CEO, Anders Davidsson.

“I called Anders and said we were considering selling and asked whether Herenco might be interested. What mattered most to us was finding a long-term home for Golvhuset,” Jesper says.

“In the end, Herenco was chosen, largely thanks to its perspective on local entrepreneurship and long-term development.”
“Herenco’s ambition is to develop companies over time while allowing each business to remain strong locally. That created a sense of security for both us and our employees,” Jesper says.

The first year within Herenco

The first year within Herenco has meant stronger support around the business, while Golvhuset has continued to operate locally and stay close to its customers.

As part of the Flooring business area, the company has gained access to new networks, knowledge sharing, and improved conditions in areas such as purchasing, insurance, and administrative processes.

“You’re no longer standing alone. There is a lot of experience within the group, and it’s valuable to be able to discuss everything from customer issues to business development with other companies,” Jesper explains.

He also highlights the support from the Flooring business area management as an important part of daily operations.

“Jimmy (Head of Flooring) is a strong business support, and Kateryna (CFO Flooring) helps a lot with the practical aspects of running the business. That allows us to focus even more on our customers and on continuing to develop Golvhuset.”

At the same time, Herenco’s financial strength has created better conditions for long-term development.

“We see benefits in everything from supplier agreements and purchasing to administrative areas. It frees up time and resources that we can instead invest in the business and our customers.”

Moving forward on the same foundation

Jesper has a positive view of the future. The focus remains on quality, customer experience, and long-term development.

“We are constantly working to improve. For us, it’s about continuing to build a company where customers feel trust and where people want to work in the long term.”

Going forward, the goal is to continue growing, developing the store, and further strengthening the overall offering—without losing what made Golvhuset successful in the first place.

“The most important thing for us is to maintain the feel of the company while continuing to move forward. That’s where I believe the long-term strength lies,” Jesper concludes.
