Herenco, based in Jönköping, Sweden, is an independent and family-owned owner company, founded in 1865.
Through thoughtful acquisitions, Herenco develops and enhances businesses and brands.
By acquiring and developing well-performing businesses in sectors where we can contribute with stability and coherence, we build a strong and diversified industrial group, resting firmly on multiple pillars. We invest in prosperous companies, not to assume the role of passive shareholders, but to be active owners who assist companies in profitable growth. This is our way of participating in shaping the future. Our acquired companies complement each other and are leaders in various niches where we see opportunities for development, for the companies, the individuals within them, and the communities they operate in.
The companies within Herenco are divided into four business areas, all with shared interests that strengthen each other as well as the overall offering. Herenco also has a portfolio of partially owned publicly listed companies, including Nolato, Balco, Lyko, Profoto, and Fractal.
Herenco generates approximately SEK 3.5 billion in turnover and has around 1,100 employees.
Herenco's vision Always create future is about three parts. As a company, always think about what the next step is, what the future might look like and have a long-term approach to decisions. To always develop our employees with internal training. To contribute to developing society, partly through The Hamrin Foundation and investment in research, partly by doing social good through the companies. Constantly creating the future is something everyone at Herenco must contribute to every day.
The Hamrin Foundation (Carl-Olof & Jenz Hamrins Stiftelse) was founded in November 1985 when Jenz Hamrin and her daughter Christina donated a third of their shares in Herenco AB.
The Hamrin Foundation’s purpose is to promote scientific research by providing grants to individuals, research groups, institutions or projects. Since its inception, the foundation has distributed over SEK 320 million.
Jönköping University, with a focus on Jönköping International Business School (JIBS), is the foundation’s largest individual recipient of grants, just over SEK 200 million.
The Hamrin Foundation creates interdisciplinary projects that move society, academia, and business.
In a world where there are high demands on awareness of our social impact based on environmental, economic, and social factors, Herenco focuses on market segments where Herenco has the ability to make a difference for the group’s customers – for real. It is us people who are, and make, the difference.
By constantly making the Herenco Group’s company better, all employees are involved in Herenco’s contribution to society.
For several years, Herenco has helped people in Eastern Europe through the organization Sam-Hjälp. Sam-Hjälp Jönköping is an aid organization that started over 30 years ago. Over the years, the business has developed to include humanitarian material aid today. In a normal year, 35 lorries are sent fully loaded with auxiliary shipments. In addition, financial assistance is given to school projects, orphanages, and social work in eight different countries in Eastern Europe.
